That’s a gorgeous shot of my wife’s home town! For me, it’s also about as close as I care to get to the place, but I’m not a “city boy” at heart.
You should have seen the ear-to-ear smile that spread on her face when I spun the screen around to show her (F11 all the way!). Thanks, Jonco. I may have earned a point for that (too bad they don’t keep, eh?).
An even better view of Chicago is when you are flying into Chicago from the east into O’Hare and they route you north over the lake before heading west to O’Hare. If you sit in at a window on the port side of the plane (the left side), you get a great view of the city as you fly over the lake (Lake Michigan, that is). So basically, your view would be from the far side of this photo.
This photo is good because you get to see most of the suburbs of Chicago.
The best part of the view you describe is Wrigley Field. Rumor has it they’re trying to get a major league baseball team to play there.
A lovely view of the city and some of Cook County’s outstanding forest preserves.
