Exactly. I just finished the book “Around the World in 80 Days” and they had the same issue (SPOILER ALERT)–they kept heading east so they ended up making the trip in 79 days and by happenstance discovered their error and allowing Phileas Fogg to claim his winnings.
Both times I visited New Zealand, I would leave LA at 7 PM on Sunday, and land in Auckland at 5:30 AM Tuesday. On the return, I would leave Auckland at 6:30 PM Friday, and land in LA at 9:AM on Friday.
15 years ago, I spent 13 day in Japan…or was it 14, because on our way back to the states we stopped in Hawaii for 2 days..or was it 3. We left Tokyo at 9pm and arrived in Honolulu at 9am the same morning. Still to this day I tell the story that I can legitimately say that I was in two place at once.
