Another year is drawing closed. It seems like every weekend I mention how fast the time flies. It seems that as I grow older the hours and days keep going by faster and faster. I liken it to a roll of toilet tissue that seems to go faster as you get near the end. Or how about when you fill your tank with gasoline? Notice how you can drive around for days and not see the needle move? Then all of a sudden it seems, you can actually almost watch the needle moving towards the big E at the other end of the gauge. That’s how life seems to me.
Las Vegas Bound: Next Saturday I leave for a blogging convention in Las Vegas. I will return the following Thursday afternoon. I’ll pre-post a few things before I leave. I don’t know how much online access I’ll have while there. Las Vegas is a town of very little free WIFI as the want you in their casinos rather than in your room and online.
What’s on your mind on this last Open Mic of the year?

Time does appear to fly as we age but the easiest explanation is the simplest-the older we get, the percentage of your life that a year represents gets smaller and smaller.
For example, a four year old looking forward to Christmas on January 1st has 1/5 of his life to live before the Yuletide season rolls around. (considering that his birthday is in January). On the other hand, a person in their 50′s only experiences 1/50(or so) of their life as the year goes by. So when you consider the march of time and how it seems to speed up, just thank your years of experience for the illusion.
Saffron, that’s exactly how I see things too! My life is just so big, and those christmasses are stacking closer and closer together. Time to get ready for the next one!
That’s an interesting way to look at it but I’m not sure my brain works that way. I think I’m just nearing the end the paper roll.
Thank you Jonco for another great year. I think I have been visiting daily now for over a year. I know I have made almost every Open Mike. I really appreciate the traffic to my blog. I still don’t have the traffic I’d like, but it is not going down at least. I guess I should probably go to the bloggers convention (not happening tho’). Anyway, THANK YOU!
I found some old ads that I titled “Female Domination – Were ad men really mad men?” It is a title that baits the porn-tittilation factor of the Web, but we actors must do what we must. Still, they are cute ads that haven’t been seen before now.
Here’s to a better 2013!
A roll of toilet tissue DOES go faster as the roll gets near the end…
You are certainly on a roll today!
Just wanted to tell you Thank You, Jonco. You do a wonderful job here at B&P and on your other sites as well, I visit every day. Also, Thank You to the other visitors here, I consider you friends, even if we’ve never met. I know I can say what I want to here without getting funny looks. I say what I want other places and people look at me as if I’ve sprouted a set of wings or something in front of them. While some of you may disagree with my opinions, it’s okay here, we aren’t a narrow minded bunch. I like the lively discussions, and friendly disagreements, I may not always join, sometimes I’m just a lurker, but I usually enjoy the banter. So thanks to everyone for an entertaining year, and hopefully we have many more together!!
Um, Andy from Beaverton is extremely narrow minded. The rest of us are way OK!
Thank you Jonco for everything you do to keep us entertained. Heres to many more years to come.
Thank you for a wonderful year of laughing and hysterically laughing at the posts herein. Can’t wait for more in the coming year.
Traveling from warm sunny Florida to cold and colder Memphis Tenn in time for New Years Eve, Liberty Bowl at 2:30 pm. Grandson plays for Tulsa Hurricanes so had to make the trip,
but bad traveling today as we spent last 3 hours in snow flurries and more cold and colder wind.
But worth it to be at the game.
Enjoy Vegas and say hi to the tables for us.

I just wanted to comment that I liked your analogies of time passing. I also liked Saffron’s comment. I don’t think those views are very different from each other, actually. Toilet paper gives you a visual understanding and the other is more, well, analytical may be the word I’m looking for.
I think we all see it similarly the older we get. Happy New Year, Jonco!
That gas tank thing. I’ve noticed it for along time now.
It definitely is a conspiracy, they make them so that only math/physics types that understand logarithmic progression understand.
Thanks for helping to make this another shorter year in my life.
Think of life as a fruit, there is the perfect time to eat it, then it gets rotten faster and faster. They you bite it.
Happy Quicker Year Everyone.
What? New year already? Seems like just the other day, it was Christmas!
Ok then, I hope everybody’s new year, and all of 2013 is awesome!

Ah!!..Groucho Marx! …”You’ll never regret the things that you’ve done… more than the things you didn’t didn’t do!”… My mom said that, …I don’t know who said it first, but that’s the way I live! Happy New Year everybody from an expat in the Philippines!
