I made a few changes in the settings of a couple plugins for WordPress to see if that might slow the spam comments. The main one is that I’ve disallowed commenting from behind proxy servers.

Well, you were on the approved list. That’s why you were able to post spam.
I’ve had a couple people tell me that they weren’t able to leave a comment. It is because they’re behind a proxy server. I had temporarily disabled the ability to leave a comment from behind a proxy server to see if that eliminated the main spam culprit. It didn’t. The spam comments are still coming in so I enabled the proxy server option again.

Hmmmmm. I’m one of those who contacted you about not being able to post. I tried from home, with no success… and no proxy server either. I’m at work now, and my test post worked. I suspect that some updates to my laptop may be the problem. I’ll check my settings when I get home and try again. Thanks Jonco!
