So true! If my ex’s had a copy of this, they probably wouldn’t be ex’s…
Just kick ’em in the ass and tell them to get their big kid panties on.
RIchard… you are the target audience for this poster.
Introverts usually aren’t “scared” of social events – they don’t like them. Forcing an introvert to, as you put it, “put their big kid panties on,” would like akin to forcing you to go shopping with your mother for lingerie panties and purses for 4 hours (assuming you’re not into that… if you are, you’re even weirder than any of us really want to know). Our idea of a good time with friends is going to dinner somewhere quiet – or maybe even hosting dinner at home – with 5 or fewer very, very close friends. The idea of hanging out with 2 good friends, 40 vague friends, and 100 shady acquaintance somewhere with so much bass that you feel it in your chest isn’t just unappealing to us… it’s so absurdly disgusting that simply thinking of being in such a place makes us feel unclean.
We prefer…. no, we require a set amount of time each day where we are completely alone, even from loved ones (not necessarily physically… headphones work), and can sit there wallowing deep in our own thoughts, and as such, introverts are frequently excellent scientists, engineers, artists and musical composers, constantly mulling over the intricacies of every minute detail of their passion.
And by the way… I’m so very sorry that we’re not exactly like you. I know it sucks and is hard to believe that there are people different than you… but please, if you can’t tolerate them, stay the f__k away from them.
Oh god… sorry for the rant. XD Only meant to say one thing… damn snowball effect.
“We prefer…. no, we require a set amount of time each day where we are completely alone, even from loved ones (not necessarily physically… headphones work), and can sit there wallowing deep in our own thoughts”
YES – this is exactly what’s hard to explain to most people.
Very well said! I couldn’t agree more.
Maoman – Get back to me when you have more life experiences running a job site. What you do on your own time is something that I don’t give a rip about…In fact, I also like to have time to myself, so quit making assumptions about what I am like.
I will be stealing this from you, Jon.
And Richard, not everyone can socialize.
I can’t. I have a very hard time being around strangers. It has nothing to do with my pants, but it is made worse when I am not wearing any….or they aren’t.
In my book, being an introvert is not the same thing as being antisocial. Having supervised a large group of people at one time at a time critical job, I know that managers don’t have much time to spend on making employees feel warm and fuzzy. You give them a job to do and expect the best.
Wow. that list describes me to a tee. (maybe not 7 & 9 that much)… Guess that makes me an introvert????
Number 1 & 5 sounds like my daily introvert activity away from my family to spend quality time on B&P….LOL
Yup. Very small groups, lots of alone time, no noise.
I am an introvert that is surrounded by extraverts who don’t get me. Even I don’t get me sometimes — I think there must be something wrong with me when I don’t enjoy the happy hours or the water cooler chit chats. It’s comforting to know there are others like me — how come I have such a hard time finding you all? Lol.
