  1. These same scare tactics have resulted in the lowest tax rate for the rich ever, no regulation on the banks, or Wall Street. Let me tell you something: part of being a good citizen is contributing to the common good. I pay my taxes for good roads, good education, defense, and so old people aren’t out on the streets. Do you really think that the lack of a social safety net in the 1920’s was better? This type of sentiment is the reason I had to listen to my friend lament that he couldn’t find a doctor to accept his Medicare. We are all one major illness away from being out on the street. Thank God the Government is there to help.

      • Taken further, the ‘good roads’ is actually a consumption tax on fuel, but it is sent to the fed where it is washed through several levels of bureaucracy and poorly distributed back to the states (or raided for other purposes). If we’re going to have fuel taxes, leave them in the state where they can repair the roads where the fuel is consumed.

Education? Throwing dollars toward education has not resolved the problems with schools.

Defense? Yep, that’s in the constitution. That doesn’t mean there isn’t room to cut, but cuts need to be with surgical precision rather than with a buzzsaw.

Old people on the streets? Well, perhaps that’s a reference to Social Security, but if you take it as entitlements as a whole, that’s another area in need of serious reform.

Finding a doctor that won’t take Medicare? Yeah, that’s getting to be more troublesome, but it’s because the Medicare reimbursement rates are very poor. Additionally, with Obamacare, there will be an increase in regulations, an increase in consumption, and a decrease in available providers as Doctor’s retire rather than fighting it anymore.

So basically, taxes are not the solution. Spending is the problem. Increasing taxes rather than reforming our budget (or lack thereof) doesn’t help.

  2. Ash you’re obviously not a Patriot. Patriots are people who want large standing armies to invade countries in the Middle East because they think differently than us and those armies should all be paid for by…oh, wait a minute. Something, something, no taxes no taxes, something, flag.

  3. The funny thing about this video is that you can pretty much replace the word “Government” with “big business” and the song will still make sense.

  4. Except spending money on ‘big business’ is entirely your choice. You won’t go to jail for not buying an iPhone.

  5. How naive Ash and Sander are, they are why we have elected the officials that we have now who are shoving big government down our throats. These people don’t understand The Constitution. It is sad, real sad.

    • The funny thing is your assumption that just because I don’t like how some big business behave themselves, you conclude that I’m for big government. LOL. Clown.

  6. With just the first line of the song there’s every reason to pause it. Tim, you! are the “other guy” getting money from the community pile, that the g-man is gleefully dancing on.
