I had a record breaking number of spam comments on B&P yesterday. From 8 am yesterday until 9:30 am today we’ve gotten 1,299 spam comments.
That doesn’t count unhappy readers like Dennis, Marcus and Gbull. They’ll probably bitch about this post. I added a happy guy to the image so it won’t be so boring for them.

What kind of spam do you get? Mine usually involves online retailers.
The only Spam I have seen is made by Hormel Foods.
I’m guessing what you get is spam email. I get comments (just like this) that have some generic text message and then a link (or links) to whatever they’re trying to sell. I don’t mind people who actually read B&P having a link to their website but not much more than that. Besides there’s a place in one of the fields for your site. I get 10 or 15 links from the same IP address all using different names and sometimes the same exact text linking to some colon cleansing crap site. Or, “I really like you site and I need to tell someone how much I like my new Zune.” I used to skim the spam folder just in case a legit comment got in there accidentally, but I don’t anymore. I just hit the Delete button and they’re gone…. for a minute or two until they start building up again. I don’t understand how this benefits them since they never see the light of day on B&P, but someone said they get exposure through the web crawlers or something.

The one (1) I got today was a screed about t-shirts, but the “poster” profile linked to a cigarette blog in Japanese.
Man, that “happy guy” is making it so difficult to see the drop shadow.

Ever since I went to Gmail, I have never gotten a spam email.
Well, they do go to the Spam folder, and since Gmail gives you 100 Trillion Billion Megabytes I just ignore it. Once in a while I look just to see what the new spammer thing is.
I wonder if Spam ever sends out spam?
