I just took the ACT WorkKeys test for a new job today. I scored 7 out of 7 on math and finished 6 minutes before time was up. (scored 7 out of 7 on reading too)
I never heard of that test either until last week when I tried applying for a particular job. I guess it’s similar to the ACT test for college. But what’s funny is that I could have been a nuclear engineer in the Navy, but being 18 I was dumb and with something like one signature away from enlisting I decided not to to that. Something about spending months in a sub with a bunch of guys wasn’t appealing. Now, many years later I’ve been applying everywhere. Including Walmart. Gah. I really need to go back in time and start everything all over.
This is why I’ve always hated “new math.”
That first paragraph… I’ve always thought women were a lot better at math than men.
But maybe I miscalculated.
And here is a song about that new math: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wHDn8LDks8
Good grief! “New math” was new 50 years ago.
Anyone remember what “old math” was?
Yep, old math did not include sets, zines or graphing…nor calculators.
“zines”? wtf is/are zines? Some obscure cousin of a tangent?
It was the Jonco spelling of “sine”…

Never heard of the ACT thing. Is it a test for Walmart greeters or CERN physicists?

YAY Scott!
