These are classic themes and characters and occur in many folk tales, etc.

  Agree, It’s how the author/writer puts them together and integrates them into a bigger story.
  
  Like saying, no movie is new, they all have a bad guy, a good guy, a hot babe and then shit happens has been done before. Every good movie was done before 1970, now a plot can’t be developed without cell phones being the main character.
