After the Alabama tornadoes

The story begins with the rescuers finding this poor little guy they named Ralphie.

Rescue1
Someone had already taken him under their wing but they weren’t equipped to adopt.

Rescue2
Ralphie, scared and starved, joined his rescuers…

Rescue3
I wouldn’t think anything could live thru this…. but we were wrong.

Rescue4
This little lady also survived that wreckage.

Rescue5
Here she is just placed in the car – scared, but safe.

Rescue6
and then.. they are no longer alone!

Rescue7
Instant friends, they comforted each other while in the car.

Rescue8
Add two more beagles found after that… the more, the merrier!

Rescue9
Oh boy, a new traveler to add to the mix…
(Note: the cat coming over the seat needing shelter….)
Now just how is this going to work? (and remember they are all strange to one another)

Rescue10
It’s going to work just fine, thank you very much!

Rescue11
Wow! The things we learn from our animal friends…

If only all of mankind could learn such valuable lessons as this.

Lessons of instant friendship.  Of peace and harmony by way of respect for one another — no matter one’s color or creed.

These animals tell you… “It’s just good to be alive and with others.”

Thanks Fabian

That is great! I keep telling people that we humans could learn a lot about “humanity” from animals.

A lot of the “group shots” came out of Katrina so I imagine there’s a repeat going on. Having said that, I’m all for whatever it takes to rescue our furry friends….friends who are always glad to see you, will put up with your idiosyncrasies and who are totally non-judgmental. What more could we want?

  • Thank you, Jon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for this! I pet sit dogs in my home, and I’m happiest when I have a dog. I was saying to Katie today as we were walking that I wished people would be more like dogs, and if I had magical powers, I would turn many of them into dogs. Katie didn’t comment, as she’s a very quiet dog–also a rescue.

Last week 5700 people from 24 states were in Joplin to adopt 745 pets displaced by the tornado. Another 200 pets that weren’t ready to be released are still going to need homes in the coming weeks.

That’s great…. yet I feel for some people who want their pets but haven’t been able to find them. Does that make sense? It’s like with Trixie…. I often wonder about her previous family…. what are they thinking? Do they even care? Do their kids miss her? Or was she just abandoned or kicked out?
