Awesome! I’m going to run to Vegas and practice all seven deadly sins, and a few of the more interesting venal ones, as well.
Religion:
The belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so that he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.
Makes perfect sense.
To be more accurate, that is a description of Christianity.
a few minor changes and you can adapt it to any religion. Judaism, Islam and Christianity all came from Abraham, didn’t they?

How comes that everybody always quotes Christianity when trying to come up with all the bad things religion has been responsible for and never any of the religions that actually are responsible for lethal fanaticism in modern times? Don’t get me wrong, I am an atheist, but I hate this kind of rhetoric.

Joey, Joey, Joey: you don’t think Christianity is responsible for lethal fanaticism in modern times? Okay, I admit they’re not solely responsible. Who is? But they DID undeniably have a role in making the dirty bed we’re sleeping in.
Atheist: someone who believes (a) there are no absolute truths (except this one), (b) life and the universe spontaneously happened (although it doesn’t do it anymore), (c) everything evolved (transitional fossils will be found one day), (d) good and evil are self-defined (except by Hitler, Stalin, etc), (e) all religions are the same (they only differ on the minor points of creation, sin, heaven, hell, God, salvation, etc), (f) if there is a god, he’s nothing but love anyway and will forgive us because we’re all basically good (again, except for Hitler, Stalin, etc)
