The view from your window

What’s the view like looking out your window?  I got the idea to do this from The Daily Dish.   It might be fun for others to see what you see when you look out your window.  Instructions on how to resize and post an image in a comment are in the FAQ’s.  Try to limit the size of your photo to about 650 pixels wide or it will be cropped off.

Here’s the view out my back window.

Window view
That’s the mighty Mississippi River a little south of St. Louis.  The walkway leads down to a deck overlooking the river.  We occasionally see eagles flying out there and deer in the back yard.

  1. I now remember why I have plants crowded in my windows – Living room, dining room, and kitchen windows face the shoulda-been-power-washed siding of my neighbor. The back looks better in the summer when the garden is in bloom; and now that the trees have lost their leaves – I can see the foreclosed and/or abandoned houses. I offer the driveway side view

  2. This one’s out my Kitchen window. I bought the lot behind me (shown), which goes down to the road. I have forest out the window just beside my computer, but it’s kinda blocked by my pickup. . .

  3. A second pic – this one outside my front door, which has a large oval window. Five minutes ago. I have a herd of 6-7 deer that moves through my yard a couple of times a day. My community is several thousand acres, mostly unbuilt, with no hunting allowed.

      • Black squirrels? I have only seen them at one place – Omaha, NE. Jet black with white ears. No reds, there, or anywhere I’ve been, though I hear of them. Only grays everywhere else I’ve been. I have a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder (snicker) outside my window next to the computer. About once a year one of the the cute little rats learns how to defeat it. But all the feed must make him fat and slow and tasty, because the winner doesn’t last very long. . .

  4. Some people are having trouble posting pictures. The main thing you have to do is upload it to a place on the internet (your URL should be http:// and the location of your picture). Then all you really have to do is add [IMG] to the front of the URL for your picture and [/IMG] (they must be all in lower case for it to work) to the end of it and it should work.
So its [bracket)img](bracket) in front and [(bracket)/(slash)img]bracket at the end.

      • I wish you could just copy and paste. That would simplify it. But you can’t.
In reality it’s not too had once you do it a couple of times. Just add the img tags in brackets with the forward slash / to the end tag around the URL of your image. Like this…..

  5. Long time reader, few times commenter here. I’m spending my winter in Chiang Mai, Thailand to get away from Shitloadofsnowandcold, Finland.

  6. No doubt about it, we live in Downtown Gorgeous. This was a retirement move some years ago, and near the top of our list was Fabulous View. Bella, I believe you’re thinking of the Beach Buoy in Davis Bay, and their great patio. Your halibut and chips will be cold in about 12 seconds these days 🙂

    • That’s it Cooper Green. I do remember sitting outside on the patio and eating that great meal while gazing at the ocean. I gotta move. It’s -20C this morning here.

I gave up cleaning gutters and shoveling snow for this. The shot is not quite out my window. I had to walk about 30 feet.

      • This canal is literally the county line between Broward and Miami-Dade counties in Florida. The tall buildings in this photo are on the beach in Hallandale Beach. At the end of the canal in this picture is the main channel of the Intracoastal Waterway. I take my kayak out from my dock early in the morning (in the dark this time of year) and get some exercise before going to work.
