  2. Hmm no 4, 14,24 maybe it’s in Japan or China. One of the words for 4 sounds like “death” so they often leave it off in hospitals etc..

  3. There are no floors 4, 14, 24, etc. because the number “4” in Chinese sounds very close to “death”. Bad luck.

  4. The reason for the lack of “4” numbers is because this is a lift in China where the number 4 is considered unlucky, so they do not have floors with the number 4 included. They, however, do not have the Western superstition regarding the number 13…

  5. on many elevators, the “close door” button is a placebo button that does nothing unless you have the key inserted.

  6. balderdash….. perhaps some elevators may inadvertently work this way but this requires circuits to ignore the normal stopping / call recognition circuits. All elevators ?? 40 years in the elevator business and I haven’t seen one of these yet. have to try it out.
