News IQ quiz

To test your knowledge of prominent people and major events in the news, we invite you to take our short 12-question quiz. Then see how you did in comparison with 1,003 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a January 14-17, 2010 national survey conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press.

Here are my results:

Current events quiz

I must admit I wasn’t sure about a couple of them and just guessed.

Take the quiz.

Thanks Gene

  1. I got 9 right and I’m not even an American. Do they ever ask questions about the rest of the world, or is that just crazy talk?

    • It is well known that america is enormously self centered. France is (was?) the same way. Really sad…

  2. Don’t worry Jonco…I guessed at a couple and went 12 for 12! Between you ad Infidel it look like we’re in good company!

  3. 12 of 12. Ace, what do you mean, the rest of the world? Most Merkuns not only don’t know about the rest of the planet, they don’t give a crap about it, either. The “English only-we can’t do anything wrong-if you don’t like it lump it-our god counts and can kick your gods ass (and your god doesn’t count, anyway)-teabagging types probably scored in the 12% and 13% range.
Don’t look here, it will make you sick:

  4. This stuff is in the news all the time. Yet more than 60% got half or fewer correct (I did well). And it’s a multiple choice test!

One’s tendency is to be shocked. But then one remembers that 30-40% of Americans report believing that Obama is a Kenyan, or a Muslim, or a Marxist, idiotic myths easily disproved.

I guess folks believe what makes them feel most secure, and are not interested in facts or truth if it upsets them: Texas schoolbook committee, e.g.

  5. I got them all right. There should be a requirement that everyone take a quiz like this at the polling station before voting. If you can’t get at least 6-7 correct out of 10, then you have no business voting.

  6. This isn’t a news quiz. It’s a quiz about current US politics and economics. Which is a useless quiz if you’re not American

  7. 12 of 12 easily this time. Last time, I guessed on a few and got 11 of 12.

For anyone to infer republitards or democraps are smarter cause they score higher on this quiz is just plain retarded and you should be shot. These questions are even close to being indicative of intelligence or being informed. Being informed is knowing how many times Justice Roberts takes a shit in a day, not how many women are on the court. Being informed is knowing what caused the unemployment rate to be so high, not what multiple of “5” it’s closest to.
