The lighthouse at Ponce de Leon Inlet, at 175 feet in height, is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and the one of the tallest in the United States (the Cape Hatteras Light in North Carolina is taller at 207 feet).
There are 203 steps from the base to the observation deck near the top.
This is about half-way up.
The observation deck is just below the lens that shines brightly for miles around.
The lighthouse is located between St. Augustine Light and Cape Canaveral Light. It’s north of New Smyrna Beach and south of Daytona Beach.
The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station became a National Historic Landmark in 1998.
Hey Jonco! My husband proposed to me on this lighthouse! It’s my favorite of all the ones we have visited. It took us a while to get to the top but once we made it, it was worth it!
