you forgot about humvees too. lol, anywho, it is astonishing how many airplanes are in the air at any given moment. They actually have to reduced the minimum space allowed between airplanes in the are so that they could increase the number of flights. I believe that the distance used to be 1 mile at least between adjacent planes, however now it is down to .5 miles. It's an even greater distance between the planes if they are following the same flight path.

There are way too much airplanes in the USA. The USA alone causes 22 percent of global warming! That's ridiculous.
They don't give a damn about global warming, make WARS for oil so that they can make more big CO2 causing chevies.....

infidel...Fooled around with Google for a couple of minutes regarding number of worldwide flights per day...There are over 1,000 scheduled airlines in the world, and I found numbers of around 30,000 commercial passenger flights per day in the US alone. Almost triple that if you include air cargo, military, gov't, and private planes. Numbers for worldwide totals are kinda hard to find.

At any given moment, there are over 5,000 planes in the air over the US!

Interesting numbers here... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070531155257AAwncmt

Would this amount of air traffic going on daily also impact green house effect/global warming? Very insightful video there.

Traffic is linked to the sun, because hot air rises. This makes it easier for the planes to stay in the air... :)

Seriously, if flights were more evenly spaced, airports would have to expand less. But people complain about noise pollution more and more.
